Part of the Minerals Education Coalition’s mission is to inform and educate the general public about the importance of mining in their everyday lives. MEC staff and volunteers work in-person events and MEC provides virtual educational materials for online events.

OCTOBER 9-15, 2022
Each year, MEC partners with the American Geosciences Institute’s Earth Science Week (ESW) to provide educational resources across the globe at EarthSciWeek.org and in the ESW Toolkit. This year’s theme will be “Earth Science for a Sustainable World.” Monday, October 10, 2022 will also be Minerals Day. Go to MEC’s ESW yearly activities. |

2023 National Scout Jamboree The National Scout Jamboree is a two-week encampment for boys and girls, ages 13-18, in the Scouts BSA program. Held at the Summit Bechtel Reserve in rural West Virginia, where the MEC 2023 exhibit will be themed “Mining in Our Modern World: Journey to the Middle of Your Mobile.” |
