MEC STORE POLICIES

RETURN/REFUND POLICY

All sales are final except for damaged goods. Damaged products may be returned for a replacement only if the damage is a manufacturer’s defect or the result of shipment from MEC. Merchandise must be returned within 30 days. Returns of merchandise requires prior authorization. Please include receipt or reference number and return by traceable carrier to MEC.

DELIVERY METHOD AND TIMING

Shipping and handling charges must be added to all orders. This is done automatically when ordering is done online.

  • Continental U.S. orders will be shipped via Federal Express Ground.
  • Outside Continental U.S. orders will be shipped via Federal Express Internation Economy, USPS International Priority or DHL.
  • Rush service may be requested via Federal Express 2-Day service for an extra fee.

PRIVACY POLICY

MEC will not sell or rent your personally identifiable information to anyone, and we will send personally identifiable information about you only when:

  • We have your consent to share the information;
  • We must respond to subpoenas, court orders or a legal request;
  • A contractor requires this information to set up a feature of our site, such as our purchasing service.

The MEC website links to pages on websites maintained by other organizations. When you access a page that links to another website, you are subject to the privacy policy of the website containing that page.

DATA COLLECTED
Personal data collected by MEC generally includes an individual’s name, address, and email address. It may also include date of birth, image, and, on occasion, credit card numbers.

HOW PERSONAL DATA IS COLLECTED
MEC collects personal data under various circumstances. Most common are when an individual:

Becomes a member of MEC;
Registers for a conference or similar in-person event;
Registers for a webinar or other online offering;
Downloads information from MEC website;
Participates as a speaker, author, or similar capacity;
Applies to become certified under one of MEC’s certification programs;
Purchases a product; or
Subscribes to a publication.

HOW PERSONAL DATA IS PROCESSED
Personal data of individuals may be used for several purposes. Among them are:

Membership administration;
Provision of member benefits;
Delivery of products and services;
Management of subscriptions;
Communication of Association events, products, services, offerings, benefits and opportunities;
Direct marketing;
Member and customer data analysis;
Development of directories; and
Product and services customization and development.

LEGAL BASIS FOR COLLECTING AND PROCESSING PERSONAL DATA
There are several legal bases for MEC’s collection and processing of personal data:

For the legitimate interests of MEC, including the several uses listed above;
To perform a contract;
Based on consent; and
Legal compliance.

THIRD PARTIES WITH WHICH PERSONAL DATA MAY BE SHARED
MEC may share personal data with several other parties. These include:

Sponsors of Association activities;
Exhibitors at Association events;
Publishers of Association publications;
Cloud service providers;
Service providers who perform functions such as marketing, research, shipping and fulfilment; and
Vendors, such as insurance and credit card companies.

MEC also may share personal data in the event of a merger or asset sale/purchase transaction, and as required by law.

SITE OF PROCESSING OF PERSONAL DATA
Personal data of individuals collected by MEC may be stored and processed in the United States, Europe, or any other country in which MEC, its vendors, or partners maintain facilities. MEC generally collects and processes personal data in the US. In the event personal data is collected in the EU and is then transferred to the US, or is transferred to any other country outside of the EU, MEC will do so because there is a legal reason, such as in order to perform a contract, or to achieve a legitimate interest of MEC.

PERSONAL DATA AUTOMATICALLY COLLECTED
MEC may collect certain personal data automatically, in particular of individuals visiting the MEC website, using cookies and other technologies.

DATA RETENTION
Personal data may be retained by MEC for so long as necessary or useful to pursue the legitimate interests of MEC. Other factors may include: the duration of the business or contractual relationship between MEC and an individual; archiving of historical information; and legal requirements, including limitations periods during which a legal claim might be brought.

SAFEGUARDS
MEC has put in place reasonable technical, physical, and administrative safeguards to protect personal data collected by MEC.

INDIVIDUAL RIGHTS REGARDING PERSONAL DATA
Individuals generally have the right to access their own personal data and to request that MEC correct any errors or incompleteness in their own personal data. The contact information provided below should be used for these purposes. There is also a limited right to request deletion of personal data. Such requests also should be directed to the designated contact.
